My approach to any kind of editing is that it should be a team effort. Yes, I put commas where they’re supposed to be, check grammar and spelling, and make sure everything written flows easily and makes sense. There’s a deeper part of editing that I really enjoy: making sure that the content creator’s message is clear and will be understood by the intended recipient.

Every word matters. Even the smallest of words matter and can make a difference in how a person interprets instructions for an assignment or what characters are doing in a scene in a novel.

Online Adult Higher Education

As a curriculum editor, one of the most critical pieces of my job is working closely with instructional designers. The following screenshots illustrate one of the many ways I interact with instructional designers as courses are developed.

Novels

It has been a great joy to be an editor for more than 90 books and to have edited more than 4.3 million words for self-published authors.

I feel fortunate to have worked with authors on just one of their books and to have maintained an ongoing author-editor relationship with many authors.

I worked with Jess Torres on 6 of her novels.

K.L. Parsons and I have worked together on 4 titles so far.

Susan Haught is an award-winning women’s fiction author, and we worked together on 5 titles.
